STEVE AKERS

Mr. Akers is Managing Director and Senior Fiduciary Counsel at Bessemer Trust. In this role, he serves as Chair of the firm’s Estate Planning Committee and works closely with clients in the Southwest Region regarding their estate and trust planning issues. He joined Bessemer in 2001.

Steve is a past president of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and is a member of the Advisory Committee to the University of Miami Philip E. Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, where he is a frequent speaker. He has previously served as Chair of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law and as Chair of the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section

Steve earned a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University.
